"She..."
Those words whistled through the winter breeze hitting my spine causing a shiver. I hadn't spoken those words in a long time, but found comfort in them, in front of a nice burning fire.
"She was a girl I knew. Once upon a time as they would say, that was where she was. A fairytale."
I attempt to remember her face now and then, her beautiful hair, and smile, her laugh, her voice. Though now, it's been so many years, they only echo in the very back of my head.
"Daniel."
"Daniel!" I hear a voice yelling to me, a very familiar voice, pleasant, but firm, I open my eyes to realize I had been sleeping in a snow covered field.
"You're so lazy, when on earth do you plan to get up?" The voice says, I hear a laugh come shortly after and footstep crushing the snow under their feet.
"You could catch a cold." Finally, the stranger stands by me as I rise my head to see who it is... Though, by then, they're gone.
"Grandpa, this makes no sense!" My young grandson says, pulling his pillow closer to him.
"Who was standing beside you? Why couldn't you see them?" He asks, pulling the pillow closer. "I'm not sure." I say, looking down at his freckled face. "But that was only the beginning."
